Camp Iakwe Curriculum
Mõnõnõ Ippen Dron! (Celebrate Together!)
This year our culture camp curriculum and activities will focus on important Marshallese holidays and traditions. Learn the most common and proper ways in which significant events are celebrated. Hear from our Marshallese leaders on the various styles their families honor traditions and hear personal stories on how they celebrate. We will explore how these holidays, traditions, and celebrations may differ throughout various Jowis, families, and areas of the islands/atolls. Discover ways in which you can best incorporate these Marshallese events into your families throughout the year. We will learn about both the well-known and less common celebrations and family traditions during our weekend culture camp.
Language, history, geography, art, singing and dancing will all be taught with a focus of Celebrating Together. Continuing Camp Iakwe’s priority to ensure an authentic cultural experience, RiMajol leaders help develop the programming and curriculum, as well as travel from both Majuro and within the US to lead sessions throughout camp weekend.
We welcome families with children of any ages. Breakout sessions will be offered for all age groups.
